Mining & Energy WA: Treasuring our Resource History......

an exciting new initiative established by the State Library of Western Australia working in partnership with the State Library of WA Foundation.

The Mining & Energy WA Archive will hold and preserve the important Western Australian records of the development of the minerals and energy industries, including social and cultural histories, building contemporary materials onto existing material held by the State Library of WA.

Display and community access to the archive will include exhibitions and an online portal.

This exciting initiative will result in an archive on a scale not before seen in Western Australia.

Two important goals the Mining and Energy Archive will achieve:

  • To gather, manage and digitise the story of the advancement of the minerals and energy industries, including important records plus social and cultural histories;

  • To use a variety of formats to create opportunities for the community and researchers to easily access the materials for the next 500 years.

The archive is an initiative of the State Library of Western Australia which is the only organisation with the mandate to collect and preserve Western Australia’s intellectual and documentary heritage.

The creation of the archive will involve resource industry bodies and individuals and already has support from politicians.
