hiLIGHTS: A Fitting Celebration

The State Library has been a-buzz all year with a range of spectacular events and functions to celebrate its 125th anniversary.  On Saturday 6 December with thanks to Lotterywest and the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority, visitors of all ages were able to experience the Library and all that this facility has to offer which included a number of guided tours behind the scenes, outdoor activities and games.

The day’s events culminated with a wonderful projection of audio-visual images onto the library.  This projection proudly showed some of the gems from the library’s extensive collection of photographs, maps, drawings and documents.  Accompanying the fascinating light show was an original soundscape that encompassed music, sounds, and segments of oral histories, all of which brought the projections to life.

They drew an appreciative applause from the large crowd which had gathered for this unforgettable and unique celebration of the State’s wealth of history.
