Our Role

The Foundation is focused on the State Library’s strategic directions:

  • To develop collections of Western Australian significance;
  • Encourage literacy in people of all ages;
  • Encourage a love of learning, the joy of discovery and the cultivation of creativity; and
  • Develop the public library network in WA.

We aim to secure corporate sponsorships and other sources of funding, forging new industry partnerships and collaborations.

Freycinet Collection

Promotion and celebration of the Freycinet collection (2013 was the 10 year anniversary of the acquisition)

Secured funding for:

 Secured funding from:

  • Wesfarmers and Woodside to enable the acquisition of the Robert Juniper set of original children’s book illustrations.

  • BHP Billiton Iron Ore to digitise the Juniper illustrations and weave related items into a rich and coherent story. Now available on the Juniper App.

  • The Western Australian Newspapers for the Premier’s Book Awards

  • St John of God Subiaco, Social Justice Program, for Storylines and Ideas Box
